The Quantum Data M41h 48Gbps Video Analyzer / Generator for HDMI testing is a compact, versatile test instrument that can be easily expanded from an entry-level functional tester with video analysis and/or video generation function. The M41h is equipped with both HDMI Tx and Rx ports supporting HDMI Fixed Rate Link and FEC capture analysis and decoding up to 48Gbps (12Gbps/Lane).

HDMI 2.1 protocol analyser

The HDMI Rx analyser port of the M41h instrument provides in-depth analysis capabilities for HDMI Fixed Rate Link (FRL) with Forward Error Correction (FEC) up to 48Gbps (12Gbps/channel). The analyser port provides insight into Fixed Rate Link packetisation FRL packets, sign blocks and super blocks. The instrument also supports analysis of a receiver’s FRL link training functions in FRL mode in both 3 lane and 4 lane configurations to test a source’s FRL link training function. Analysis of Display Stream Compression (DSC) is also supported.

In-depth analysis of FRL source flows or TMDS flows allows you to identify and resolve interoperability issues early in the product lifecycle. The M41h displays the incoming FRL packet structure and associated controls. Once the FRL flow is captured, you can also view and analyse the underlying TMDS content (tri-byte).

The M41h is also equipped with an HDMI Tx port for generating video from TMDS and FRL streams to support FRL-enabled display testing, including Display Stream Compression (DSC) generation. The test patterns and formats required to perform DSC-sink compliant testing are pre-stored for fast switching between patterns.

The video generator function of the M41h instrument allows you to run tests on FRL-enabled display devices by rendering FRL streams up to 8K video resolutions at lane rates up to 12 Gb/s and at an aggregated link rate of 48 Gb/s. The video generator function supports free selection of specific video formats (including 8K), colorimetry, bit depth, chroma subsampling and test patterns in both FRL and TMDS modes.

Enhanced functionality

In addition to its comprehensive set of functions for analysis and video generation, the M41h also supports Fixed Rate Link (FRL) source and sink video, audio and protocol compliance test suites for certification of both FRL source and sink devices. With these industry-approved comprehensive test suites, you can pre-test your FRL-compliant source or sink device or test it yourself in the comfort of your own lab.

The M41h also supports Enhanced Audio Return Channel (eARC) Tx/Rx functional testing. It provides emulation of an eARC Tx and Rx functions over the eARC Common Mode and Differential Mode data channels. The instrument supports discovery and disconnect, heartbeat, status and capabilities data structure. You can monitor and transmit audio over the eARC audio channels. The instrument also supports the full range of Enhanced Audio Return Channel conformance tests for self-tests or pre-tests for both eARC Tx and eARC Rx devices.
