Elettrotest EPS Series Three‑Phase Programmable AC Power Sources

The Elettrotest EPS series is a family of three‑phase programmable AC power sources, specifically designed to supply industrial test lines. These robust AC sources deliver exceptionally stable output voltage under all conditions, adjustable from 0 to 300 Vac rms. The frequency range spans from 10 to 320 Hz, and power ratings range from 10 kVA to 100 kVA. A notable feature is the high inrush capability: the unit can deliver twice its rated power for up to three seconds. This makes the EPS series particularly suitable for testing AC motors, transformers, DC power supplies, and any other applications where inrush current is significant.

Designed for Industrial Production

The new generators have been developed to meet the real‑world requirements of production test lines, where robustness, continuous operation, and straightforward integration are essential. The architecture is optimized for demanding production environments, enabling intensive and continuous use even in the most challenging applications.

Output Performance and Regulation

The EPS series is engineered to generate a stable and reproducible AC output. The output voltage offers an accuracy better than 0.5% of full scale and a stability of <0.1%. Total harmonic distortion remains below 2%, ensuring a clean sinusoidal waveform even under heavy loads. Voltage regulation provides a resolution of 0.025% of full scale (12‑bit), and waveform recovery time is less than 200 microseconds. Frequency can be set with a resolution of 0.02 Hz and an accuracy of 100 ppm. Full functionality is maintained outside the 50–80 Hz range, although performance derating may occur. Frequency adjustment from 10 to 320 Hz is available exclusively via remote control; local control allows selection of 50/60 Hz only.

Interfaces, Control and Communication

The EPS series supports remote control via RS‑232 and communicates using the Elettrotest protocol, SCPI, Modbus RTU, and optionally Modbus TCP. Optional interfaces such as Ethernet and RS‑485 are available. For software integration, the series is supported by PSM – Power Supply Manager, and LabVIEW drivers are provided for automated test setups.

Protection and Reliability

All models include comprehensive protection features, including short‑circuit protection, overload protection, under‑ and over‑voltage protection, and over‑temperature protection. The internally isolated output enhances safety and makes the series suitable for a wide range of test scenarios, including safety testing and quality control.
