The M4i-96xx series of DDS generators are specifically designed to generate multiple sine waves (tones) from a single fixed-frequency reference clock, on a single output. The DDS functionality is based on the principle of adding multiple ‘DDS cores’ to generate a multi-carrier (multi-tone) signal, where each carrier has its own well-defined frequency, amplitude and phase. In addition to these static parameters, dynamic parameters such as frequency slope and amplitude slope are also built in to allow intrinsic linear changes for multiple cores.
Specifications
The Spectrum M4i.96xx-x8 series DDS waveform generators are 16-bit digital-to-analogue converters. There are 1-channel, 2-channel and 4-channel versions, with sample rates up to 625MS/sec. Up to 8 cards can be synchronised in one system. Synchronisation with the M4i series analogue data acquisition cards is also possible.
Optionally, there is also the possibility of four digital I/O channels. In addition, there is also an option available to use the M4i.96xx-x8 as an arbitrary waveform generator. Then there are also options like FIFO mode to stream data from PC memory to the memory of the M4i.96xx-x8 card. In a PCI express-x8 or -x16 PC slot, this can be done at a maximum speed of 2.8GB/sec.

With the arbitrary waveform generator, you also have options like Single shot, Multiple replay (segmented memory), Gated replay and sequence mode. A comprehensive software support package comes with the M4i.66xx-x8 cards. Drivers for Windows and Linux operating systems (32 bit and 64 bit) are included.
Sample programmes and drivers for C/C++, LabVIEW (Windows), MATLAB (Windows and Linux), LabWindows/CVI, IVI, .NET, Delphi, Visual Basic and Python are available. A basic licence of the Spectrum software SBench 6 and SPEasy generator is included as standard. The Direct Digital Synthesis waveform generator is also available in a PXIe and LXI form factor.
