The Itech IT7900HV is a welcome addition to the already existing range of high-end grid simulators that Itech can offer. This regenerative AC and AC+DC source operates in the 4 quadrants and in a high voltage range from 700Vl-n to as high as 1050Vl-n. With this, the HV version covers test conditions where high voltages are a requirement. By the way, the total power can be easily expanded to 900kVA by parallel switching.

More and more grid-connected devices have a bi-directional function to fulfill. The regenerative nature of the IT7900HV gives the advantage of significant savings in electricity costs and heat dissipation management during testing. This ensures that the currents flowing back from the DUT are returned to the grid with 100% efficiency instead of converting the absorbed energy into heat.

Simple operation with numerous user functions

Combining comprehensive functionality with great ease of operation is a must to get the maximum potential out of a grid emulator. The IT7900HV is equipped with a large color touch screen on which all functions are clearly displayed in icons. From there, it is easy to navigate to the specific operating mode the user prefers.

In addition to sine waveforms, the Itech IT7900HV offers several standard AC waveforms, such as triangle -, sawtooth – block -, trapezoid – overdriven – and harmonic distorted sine waves. These waves can be easily recalled from the menu and displayed on the LCD touch screen. Building and saving your own custom waveforms is also easy with the Waveform Editor. In addition, when combined with the Sequence Programming function, users can achieve continuous output of multiple waveforms and complex patterns.

With the Recorder function, the IT7900HV is capable of storing up to 7 hours of data at short intervals of up to 100ms. In the Trend function, the entire curve can be analyzed from beginning to end.

The built-in oscilloscope function with a sampling rate of 10us makes it easy for the user to visualize voltages and currents as a function of time. The display can show up to 6 curves simultaneously.

A USB port is provided on the front of the IT7900HV to export and import data and waveforms. At the back, all communication ports are provided such as USB/LAN/CAN/LXI, but also GPIB and RS232 are possible to deploy the grid emulator in an automatic test environment.

The Itech IT7900HV series represents the latest generation of programmable regenerative four-quadrant grid emulators with both source and sink capabilities. It can be used to develop, test and certify just about any grid-connected device, And specifically in conditions requiring higher test voltages and injecting energy back into the grid.
