Isotech Medusa Dry Block calibrators
Isotech has a wide range of Dry Blocks for probes with a large immersion depth. The Isotech Medusa Dry Block Calibrators are equipped with a large and deep calibration content. As such they are less portable than the former Dry Blocks, but offer higher capacity and excellent temperature uniformity. This uniformity is so good that these larger Dry Blocks are also devices for secondary laboratories to achieve the fixed points of ITS-90.
Medusa 510 has a maximum operating temperature of 550°C, while Medusa model 511 can be used up to 700°C and has three-zone control. In addition to the main heating range, an upper and lower heating system compensates for the final losses and thus creates a constant temperature zone across the block.
For comparison calibrations the Medusa should be used in combination with an insert. This standard insert has six 8 mm pockets with a depth of 250 mm. There is also an insert of 44 mm diameter x 170 mm deep, which is hung from the top of the block so that the height can be adjusted by the user.
For flexibility, the Medusa can also be used in combination with accessories for infrared thermometers and sensors.
Versions
The Medusa is available in two versions, the BASIC (B) and the SITE (S).
The Basic (B) version has an advanced temperature control with a dual display for the set temperature and the Dry Block temperature. The Site (S) version includes a built-in digital thermometer to which an external standard thermometer can be connected, allowing better accuracy to be achieved. It removes any temperature gradient and system load errors. Also included in the S model is a timer that can set the bath between two temperatures and automate an ITS-90 fixed point calibration.
An outdoor thermometer is recommended for surface sensors and Black Body use. For laboratory accuracy, the Medusa can be used in combination with a high-end temperature indicator, such as one of the Isotech TTI models.
