The new Magna-Power ML series high-power DC power supply

Magna-Power unveils a new series of high power programmable DC power supplies of 500kW and 1000kW with the ML series. In doing so, they provide a solution to the ever-increasing demand for high-performance high-power DC sources. With emerging megawatt applications in areas such as electrolysis (hydrogen generation), aerospace electrification and high-performance radar applications, the demand for solutions with even more power and greater power density has increased dramatically.

The ML Series was developed with the priority of accommodating as much power as possible in as compact a design as possible. The ML Series’ powerful and sophisticated water-cooling technology allows for a nearly fourfold increase in power density compared to Magna-Power’s air-cooled models. The 500 kW models are housed in three 19-inch racks, while the 1000 kW models occupy only five 19-inch racks. A wide selection of options and models are available up to 5000 Adc and 6000 Vdc (floating) per unit.

The Magna-Power ML Series can be connected in parallel in a master-slave arrangement without sacrificing performance. This scalability allows ML Series systems to reach power levels in excess of 10 MW and maintain the quality and reliability synonymous with Magna-Power products.

The robust design of the ML Series meets the highest demands and is built around the reliable Magna-Power current-fed processing topology that allows these DC sources to operate continuously up to and beyond their limits. All heat-producing components are now attached to a newly designed heat sink. In addition, the transformers are wound in-house at Magna-Power, with cooling loops that directly cool the core and windings.

With this ML series, Magna-Power once again raises the bar to deliver reliable solutions for megawatt DC applications and remains the trusted choice of engineers, researchers and professionals around the world.
