The Cinergia GE&EL 30 AC/DC SiC-RS provides an all-in-one solution for complex testing and simulation in AC and DC environments. This high-efficiency grid emulator / AC load / DC load is designed for R&D, validation and End-of-Line (EoL) testing in sectors such as electromobility, energy storage, smart grids, and aerospace. With the latest Silicon Carbide (SiC) technology, the SiC-RS Series delivers unmatched performance, efficiency, and reliability.

With 30 kW of power in a compact 7U enclosure 675 mm deep, the SiC-RS fits effortlessly into standard 19-inch racks. Thanks to its modular design, the system can be easily expanded with multiple units, providing scalable power up to several hundred kilowatts. This makes the unit ideal for use in both small-scale laboratories and large-scale test setups.

The Silicon Carbide MOSFETs provide a switching frequency of 60 kHz, making the unit more dynamic and efficient than traditional systems. This translates into faster transients, lower losses and improved performance in sensitive tests. SiC technology minimizes switching losses, making the converter better suited for demanding Power Hardware in the Loop (PHiL) applications and other real-time simulations.

In load functionality, the GE&EL 30 AC/DC SiC-RS is also regenerative, feeding the absorbed energy back to the grid. This not only lowers operating costs, but also reduces the carbon footprint and simplifies thermal control. Regenerative efficiency of more than 93.5% offers significant energy savings without performance degradation.

Versatile testing capabilities.

The SiC-RS can be configured as:

> AC grid simulator: For simulating grid disturbances, frequency variations and harmonics.
> DC power or load: For battery testing, charging stations and energy storage systems.
> Power Amplifier: For PHiL applications with fast response times (150 μs from input to output).
> PV emulator: For realistic simulation of solar panels.
> Battery cycler and emulation: For accurate analysis of battery performance and durability.

User-friendly operation

The device features a 7-inch touchscreen that allows intuitive local operation without an external connection. For extensive configurations, the Cinergia software provides a graphical interface that allows users to design test sequences, log real-time data and generate complex waveforms. In addition, the SiC-RS supports communication via Modbus TCP/IP, LAN, and optional LabVIEW integration.

Applications

The GE&EL 30 AC/DC SiC-RS is suitable for:

> Electromobility: Testing of charging stations (EVSE), V2G and V2X systems.
> Energy storage: Validation of batteries and storage systems.
> Smart grids: Simulation and analysis of microgrids and networks.
> Renewable energy: PV emulation and inverter testing.
