Isotech Platinum / Platinum Rhodium thermocouple standard

The Isotech range of Thermocouple standards is the result of many years of development. Type R and S standards cover the range from 0°C to 1600°C. With Isotech Platinum / Platinum Rhodium thermocouple standard model 1600 there is a beautiful instrument on the market.

The measuring setup consists of a 7 mm x 300 mm or 600 mm gas-tight 99.7% recrystallized aluminium oxide jacket. This contains a 2.5 mm diameter double drill pipe that holds the thermocouple.

The inner 2.5 mm construction is removable. This is because some calibration laboratories only accept thermocouples with a fine bore and some applications require a fine bore.

The covered precious metal thermocouple wire connects the measuring mantle to the reference mantle. This 4.5mm x 250mm stainless sleeve is suitable for references in a 0°C reference system. Two thermoelectrically free multi-stranded copper wires (Teflon coated) Connect the thermocouple to the voltage tester.

The thermocouple material is continuous from the hot or measuring junction to the cold or reference junction.

CALIBRATION model 1600

Model 1600 comes with a certificate indicating the error between the ideal value and the actual emf of the thermocouple at the gold point. For type R and S thermocouples, manufacturing tolerances are small and therefore the use of a standard reference table is particularly suitable. Only a few calibration points are required to determine the small differences between the characteristics of an individual thermocouple and the standard reference table. As an example of consistency, 48 Isotech thermocouples calibrated at NPL have a standard deviation of the differences from the reference table value at the gold point (11, 364µV) of only 7µV, which corresponds to approximately 0.5°C.

Thermocouple characteristics are sufficiently smooth to allow interpolation of deviations from the reference table over relatively large temperature fluctuations. And this without introducing unacceptable errors. Isotech can offer a 4-point UKAS calibration for temperatures up to 1100°C (supplied as standard), a 6-point UKAS calibration up to 1300°C with the option of a table from millivolts to degrees Celsius in 10°C increments or, alternatively, control an NPL calibration at fixed points.
