Arbitrary DC power supplies

The main reason for the use of DC power supplies is often to generate a stable DC voltage, or to supply a stable DC current.
Arbitrary DC power supplies however can generate relatively rapid variations of both voltage and current.
It is designated an arbitrary DC power supply, if these variations take place within one quadrant (that is, both voltage and current remain positive at all times).
TTMS also has two-quadrant and regenerative two-quadrant arbitrary DC power supplies in its product portfolio.

Applications for these power supplies are, for example, simulation of the start pulse in automotive technique, control of a DC-motor with a specific profile to simulate the consumption of an electric car, or simulation of network pollution on a DC network to gather knowledge on the consequences of a voltage dip.

To this purpose, dynamic specifications such as rise and fall times are listed for arbitrary DC power supplies. For some models, even the bandwidth is specified.

For applications with arbitrary DC power supplies, two-quadrant power supplies, and regenerative two-quadrant power supplies, we recommend to contact one of our T&M consultants to discuss the possibilities of your specific application.
