The new bipolar amplifiers from NF corporation
NF corporation sets a new standard for accurately reproducing the most complex waveforms with its HSA series of bipolar amplifiers. With an external signal generator, the waveforms can be amplified up to 150Vp-p with fixed values of 1x, 10x, 20x and 50x. Variable amplification between one and three times the input is also possible. The amplifiers have a bandwidth of DC to 1Mhz. They also have a high switching speed of 475V per microsecond and a very low output impedance that is adjustable. There are three models in this series with up to 3Ap-p, 6Ap-p and 12Ap-p.
Due to the bipolar design of the HSA series, the amplifier is operational in all 4 quadrants. This makes it possible to supply and absorb current at both positive and negative voltages. This makes the HSA extremely suitable for driving inductive and capacitive loads.
FUNCTIONALITY HSA BIPOLAR AMPLIFIERS
The amplification factor of the HSA can be infinitely and precisely adjusted by means of a precision potentiometer. If higher voltages are required, two amplifiers can be coupled in a balanced arrangement. With the DC bias output, an offset can easily be added to the amplified waveform. To ensure safe operation and prevent damage to the amplifier, the NF HSA series is equipped with overvoltage and overload protection.
APPLICATIONS
The NF corporation HSA series is widely used for driving the most challenging applications. The four quadrant capability makes the unit suitable for applications such as impedance measurements on capacitors, coils, transformers and batteries.
The demand for new developments in the field of multilayer ceramic capacitors for applications in the automotive industry is increasing rapidly. The intended capacitance becomes larger with the smallest possible housing. In combination with a frequency analyzer, the HSA amplifier lends itself extremely well to the development, testing and characterisation of these capacitors.
The amplifier can also be used to measure the resonance characteristics of piezoelectric elements or to evaluate the hysteresis curve of magnetic materials.
In short, the HSA of NF Corporation is a very complete amplifier that can be used under the most demanding circumstances.
