The ITECH IT5100 Series battery testers

THE ITECH IT5100 SERIES BATTERY TESTERS

The Itech IT5100 series battery testers are specifically designed to measure the internal resistance of a battery. Battery internal resistance is an important technical indicator to assess battery performance. It is also a necessary test item when inspecting the manufacturing process of a battery.

The IT5100 allows you to simultaneously measure the internal resistance and voltage of all types of high speed batteries. Regardless whether it concerns button cells or large cell battery packs.

FUNCTIONS IT5100 SERIES BATTERY TESTERS

To avoid the influence caused by cabling and to ensure the precision of the test, IT5101 and IT5101E use a Kelvin four wire resistance measurement method. The measurement is carried out with a small alternating current, the so-called AC-IR measurement. This has a number of advantages over the widely used DC measurement:

  • The cell does not need to be loaded first. This speeds up the measuring process significantly: from at least a few tens of minutes to 10 seconds.
  • Research has shown that a low-frequency AC measurement results in more stable readings.
  • The small AC measurement current does not require extensive equipment.  Instead of 100 Adc it is possible to measure with 1.5 Aac current.

A USB flash drive can be connected to the IT5101 to store data and perform statistical calculations. The measurement data of the IT5100 series can be saved as a .csv file.

FEATURES

The instrument is equipped with a 4.3inch LCD display that simultaneously shows the resistance and voltage. The voltage range runs from 10 µV to 300 V and the resistance range from 150 μΩ to 3000 Ω.
GPIB, USB and LAN interfaces are standard available and the instrument can be controlled via SCPI.

APPLICATIONS

The IT5100 series is an ideal solution for various types of batteries, such as for mobile phones, unmanned air vehicles (UAV), electric vehicle (EV) batteries, contact resistance, equivalent series resistance (ESR), etc.
